रशिका मित्तल

Founded by Rashika Mittal, a house of hand-embroidered clothing — made to order in Jaipur.

Rashika grew up in Tinsukia, in Upper Assam — a small town a long way from any fashion capital, with no family or industry lineage in this world. That distance turned out to be the point. With no inherited rules to follow, the house was built on two things only: what moved her, and what the hands of karigars could make.

The two doors

Nothing enters the house directly. A design has to pass through two doors first — the hands of our karigars, and the life of the woman who will wear it. If it can only exist as a machine finish, it isn't ours. If it only looks good standing still — if she can't sit through a four-hour wedding in it, dance at a sangeet, travel with it — it doesn't leave the studio.

What never changes

Hand work, always — zari, mukesh, aari, gota patti, bandhani, zardozi. Natural cloth, always — silk, Varanasi brocade, chanderi, organza, khadi. Made to order, always — no overproduction, no deadstock, and a fit cut to her own body. We will change a colour, a neckline, a drape. We will not change to machine work, to synthetic cloth, or to a piece with no feeling behind it.

One story, in chapters
IntizaarlongingIshqloveRuhaniyatseasons of the soul

The collections are not seasonal drops but chapters of one continuing story — from longing, through love, to the seasons of the soul. Women follow it from one chapter to the next.

The atelier

A working design studio in Vaishali Nagar, not a showroom — sketches on the wall, cloth on the frames, karigars at work. When you visit, you see the process behind the product. Walk-ins are welcome in working hours; for trousseau, bridal or custom work, book ahead and the studio is yours.
