About Rashika Mittal

The Woman Behind the Label

Rashika Mittal grew up in Tinsukia, Upper Assam, surrounded by women whose wardrobes told stories. Her mother, grandmother, and aunt — all homemakers — wore sarees every day. A colour for every day, a fabric for every season. Kota for summers, silks and brocades for occasions, and yellow on Thursdays. They never followed trends — they were the trend. Their wardrobes held pieces meant to last, to be remembered, and often passed down.

That early immersion in the power of clothing — its ability to carry memory, identity, and tradition — became the foundation of everything Rashika would build.

From Assam to the World

Rashika Mittal is a luxury womenswear label rooted in Indian craftsmanship and designed for the modern woman. Every piece is fully handmade in small-batch production runs, crafted by skilled karigars (traditional artisans) whose expertise has been refined over generations.

As a sole proprietor, Rashika handles everything herself — from design and sourcing to production, communication, and strategy. It is a demanding but deeply grounding way to work, one that ensures every piece carries her personal attention and creative vision.

Coming from Tinsukia in Upper Assam — a small town far from India's fashion capitals and with no industry connections — Rashika has built a label that has been featured in Grazia, nominated for Elle Graduate 2024 in the Ready-to-Wear (Indian Wear) category, and recognised in the Entrepreneurs Today 30Under30 2026 list. She is one of the first and youngest designers from Assam to be stocked with leading global multi-designer platforms, including Pernia's Pop-Up Shop, Aashni + Co, and Elahe.

The Design Philosophy

Rashika's design language sits at the intersection of minimalism and maximalism — shaped by a restrained, monochromatic sensibility from her Assam upbringing and bold colour confidence from living in Jaipur. Her work gravitates toward deeper and more extreme tones rather than pastels, relying on colour to carry meaning rather than heavy embellishment.

"I believe colour itself can be powerful enough to speak without excessive embellishment, and this balance, along with a strong emotional and cultural narrative, has become the core identity of my label."

Collections draw inspiration from vintage photographs, traditional wedding outfits, and the timeless art of the drape — reimagined for women who value both heritage and contemporary elegance.

Handcrafted with Intention

Every garment at Rashika Mittal is made to order with a standard production time of 4-5 weeks. This is not fast fashion — it is slow, considered, and deeply personal. Each piece passes through the hands of artisans who bring to life techniques like zari work, Mukesh work, Aari embroidery, and Gota Patti — crafts that have been practised for centuries.

Natural variations in colour, weave, and embroidery are part of the textile's character, as each piece is individually handcrafted. These are not imperfections — they are the mark of human hands and honest craftsmanship.
