Chanderi Suits — Handcrafted Kurta Sets in Chanderi Silk

Chanderi — the featherlight fabric woven in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh — has been a favourite of Indian royalty for centuries. Its translucent weave, subtle sheen, and ability to hold embroidery beautifully make it the ideal canvas for handcrafted kurta sets.

Every chanderi suit in this collection is handcrafted in Jaipur by master karigars. Each piece takes 4 to 5 weeks to produce, featuring hand embroidery techniques including gota patti, zardozi, aari, marodi, and bead work.

Chanderi Suits with Gota Patti Work

Gota patti — strips of gold and silver ribbon hand-stitched into floral patterns — pairs naturally with chanderi's delicate weave. The metallic shimmer of gota against the translucent chanderi creates a look that is both regal and lightweight.

About Chanderi Fabric

Chanderi is handwoven in the town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh — a tradition that dates back to the Vedic period. The fabric is known for its gossamer texture, translucent weave, and the way it drapes close to the body. Chanderi silk has a natural sheen that elevates even simple silhouettes, while chanderi cotton offers the same lightness in a matte finish.

At Rashika Mittal, chanderi is our most-used fabric. Its lightness makes it comfortable for Indian weather, while its surface holds hand embroidery — gota patti, zardozi, aari, and marodi work — with clarity and precision.

Made to order: Most chanderi suits are handcrafted after ordering and take 4 to 5 weeks. Printed styles (Poetry, Roohani, Varnika) ship within 7 to 8 working days.
