Designer Kurta Sets Under ₹20,000: 20 Hand-Embroidered Picks for Festive Season 2026
The kurta set is the hardest-working outfit in an Indian wardrobe. It goes to the puja, the office Diwali lunch, the cousin's mehendi, the dinner with his parents and the flight home — and unlike a lehenga, it gets worn again next year. Which is why ₹20,000 is an interesting number: it is roughly where a kurta set stops being a nice outfit and becomes a piece of craft, with real silk or Chanderi and embroidery done by hand rather than by machine.
This is a guide to what that money buys in 2026, band by band, with the twenty hand-embroidered sets we make under ₹20,000 and a checklist for judging anyone's.
What Each Price Band Buys
- Under ₹5,000. Cotton, rayon and polyester blends with printed or machine-embroidered detail, in standard sizes. Good everyday clothes; not occasion wear.
- ₹5,000–10,000. The high-street designer band — better cottons, some Chanderi and silk blends, largely machine work with hand finishing.
- ₹10,000–20,000. Where handwork begins in earnest: pure silk, Chanderi and brocade bases, embroidery done by karigars at the neckline, cuffs and hem, and — at made-to-order labels — a cut to your own measurements.
- Above ₹20,000. More embroidery coverage, heavier techniques like dense marodi and zardozi, and coordinated dupattas.

Our Kurta Sets Under ₹20,000
Every set below is hand-embroidered in our Jaipur workshop, made to order over 4–5 weeks, and cut to your measurements at no extra charge. Each is a kurta and pant; where a dupatta appears in the photograph it is sold separately, which is the most common surprise in this band — so we say it up front.
₹10,000–13,000: the entry point
The Pardesi & Amaya set (₹10,715) is cotton with sequin, cutdana and thread work — the most affordable hand-embroidered set we make, and the coolest to wear. The Naina & Ahalya set (₹12,500) is ivory cotton with hand-embroidered floral motifs around the neckline, cuffs and pant hem. The Rani & Rana set (₹12,500) is a sleeveless beige silk kurta scattered with golden polka dots, with sequin and gota patti at the neckline and hem. And the Rasiya & Misri set (₹12,500) is coral-pink mulberry brocade silk with floral motifs hand-embroidered in gold thread.

₹14,000–17,000: silk and brocade
The Raha & Avni set (₹14,500) is a gathered silk kurta scattered with gold sequins, with gold tissue detailing at the neckline. The Ziya & Saaz set (₹14,500) is bright sunflower silk with a minimal neckline, side-slit sleeves and a hand-embroidered floral bel at the hem, over a matching churidaar — made for a haldi. The Afreen & Maahi set (₹15,875) is sunshine-yellow Chanderi with hand-embroidered cutdana and bead flowers. The Amyra & Adya set (₹16,500) is pink mulberry brocade silk with silver hand embroidery at the V-neckline and sleeves, and the Heer & Zunaira set (₹16,500) is golden jacquard silk with an all-over jaal and gold tissue detailing.

₹17,500–18,750: where the embroidery deepens
The Raas & Zeba set (₹17,500) is silk with tonal diagonal lines woven through the base and multicolour phool-patti embroidery, over a contrast indigo pant. The Ruhani & Nilofer set (₹17,500) is soft pink silk with a floral neckline in zardozi, sequins and cutdana. The Humsafar & Aayat set (₹17,500) is ivory silk with floral embroidery in gold, and the Nawaazish & Zivah set (₹17,500) is deep vermillion Chanderi with a distinctive square yoke.
A step up, the Leela & Sifat set (₹18,500) is lightweight Chanderi with a floral jaal in gota patti, sequins and resham; the Sunheri & Sahana set (₹18,500) is beige moonga zari silk jacquard; the Rangrez & Aliza set (₹18,750) is moonga silk brocade woven with gold motifs, with aari and zardozi on the pants; and the Shaista & Sufi set (₹18,750) is burnt-orange silk with marodi, sequin and bead embroidery.

₹19,000–20,000: the top of the band
The Banni & Aayat set (₹19,350) is a full-length soft Chanderi kurta with sequin, nakshi and cutdana detailing and hand-covered buttons. The Anahita & Amira set (₹19,500) is rich magenta silk embroidered in pink, blue and ivory florals, over a burnt-orange silk pant — the colours of gulal and marigold. And the Faiza & Rida set (₹19,500) is soft gold silk with gota and thread work in rose and coral, with a gentle V-neckline and three-quarter sleeves. What to Check Before You Pay
- What is included. Kurta and pant? Dupatta? Lining? "Set of 2" and "set of 3" differ by several thousand rupees.
- The fibre, in writing. "Silk" should mean silk. "Silk blend", "art silk" and "Chanderi-style" are different fabrics at different prices.
- Hand or machine. Turn the embroidery over: handwork shows small irregularities and thread paths. Our buyer's guide shows the tells.
- The fit policy. Standard sizes with alteration, or made to measure? A kurta that fits at the shoulder and armhole looks twice its price.
- The lead time. Made-to-order takes weeks. For Diwali on 8 November 2026, order by the end of September. Our order-early guide has the full calendar.
Once it arrives, our styling guide shows how to take one set from office to wedding.

Shop Kurta SetsFrequently Asked Questions
Can you get a designer kurta set under ₹20,000?
Yes. Between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 you can buy pure silk, Chanderi or brocade kurta sets with genuine hand embroidery at the neckline, cuffs and hem, and at made-to-order labels, a cut to your measurements. Dupattas are often sold separately in this band.
Which fabric is best for a festive kurta set?
Chanderi for daytime and warm weather, because it is light with a natural sheen; silk for evening functions and cooler months; brocade when you want the fabric itself to be the decoration. Cotton with hand embroidery is ideal for pujas and long days.
Is the dupatta included with a kurta set?
Not always. Many designer kurta sets are a kurta and pant, photographed with a dupatta that is sold separately. Always read the components line. A hand-embroidered dupatta typically adds ₹4,500–15,000.
How long does a made-to-order kurta set take?
Ours take 4–5 weeks to make, plus shipping. Allow six weeks before your event, and a little more during the October to February festive and wedding season.
